MERRILL, Wis. (WSAU) – At least three inmates at the Lincoln County jail are facing charges for two separate fights last week.

The sheriff’s office said a 50-year-old Stevens Point man and a 55-year-old Merrill man got into a fight last Monday morning. The Merrill man was treated for injuries at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

Investigators have referred both men to the district attorney’s office on battery by inmate charges.

Meanwhile, two Merrill women got into a fight Wednesday. Corrections officers used phone calls and video recordings to piece together what happened. One woman could face battery charges. Police are still looking over other evidence before they decide whether to refer the other woman on charges.

Jail administrator David Manninen was not immediately available to explain what caused the fights or identify the inmates and why there were being held in custody.
