WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis (WSAU) The Wisconsin Rapids city council wants to set up a special committee to discuss the city's relationship with the Water Works and Lighting Commission.
Many council members were angry about large pay raises for utility workers that were approved last month. Some utility managers were approved for 14-percent raises. Those increases were cut in half after city council complaints.
The utility general manager Jem Brown got the largest raise at $5,000. That increased his salary to $146,000 a year. The utility's electric manager got a $3,500 raise. The finance director got a $2,500 increase.
