NEW BERLIN, WI (WTAQ) - Four-year-old Dustin Kruse of New Berlin does everything most boys his age like to do – plus, he has this fascination about toilets.
His parents, Jim and Michele Kruse, said their son’s passion became apparent at 18 months – when he saw a line of portable toilets, and he had to inspect each one.
Mom then got him books about toilets. And last summer, the family spent 3 hours touring the Kohler Design Center – including its huge wall full of toilets.
There, a toilet with two water levels became the object of his eye – and Dustin told his mom he’d ask Santa for it.
It didn’t make the Kruse family Christmas list. But when Michele asked Kohler if they had a spare demonstration model, the company did better than that – they gave Dustin a brand new dual-flush toilet, and they even installed it for free.
That got the 4-year-old so excited, he fell asleep in the product’s box.
A librarian in New Berlin says Dustin is very inquisitive.
Marquette professor Amy Vaughan Van Hecke told the Journal Sentinel that while a child’s interest in toilets may be unusual, an interest in mechanical things is very common.
