GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) - Green Bay police say a man wanted for the death of a 13-month-old girl has been arrested in Phoenix Arizona.

Cops say 29-year-old Daniel Vega caused the head injuries that lead to the death of his girlfriend’s daughter Lilly Tebeau.

The incident happened on August 19th. According to the criminal complaint, Lilly was found unresponsive in her bed in an apartment on Green Bay's west side on Division Street.

When the girl was brought to the hospital, her mother claimed she received the injuries from falling off a bed onto a hardwood floor.

But in the complaint, doctors said the injuries were not consistent with a fall. They say the girl had several bruises and injuries to her head.

"What we believe happened is that he was extremely physically abusive to this child causing injuries to her head that ultimately caused her to die," Lt. Jim Runge of the Green Bay Police Department tells FOX 11. "there were bruises and obvious injuries that were caused by the head striking something."

Vega is facing three charges including one for first degree reckless homicide.

If convicted, Vega faces a maximum of 72 years in prison.
