STEVENS POINT, Wis (WSAU) There were two people who died during the 9-11 attacks with ties to Central Wisconsin. They were honored during a ceremony last Friday at UW-Stevens Point. Both were U-W-S-P alumni, and both worked at the Pentagon.

Lt. Cnl. Dennis Johnson of Port Edwards was the deputy chief of staff personnel. He was killed when one of the planes crashed into the building. Patricia Statz of Chippewa Falls, also a U-W-S-P graduate, was an assistant to a chief of staff.

Family members gathered for a memorial service with an R-O-T-C honor guard.

Al Thompson, U-W-S-P's vice chancellor of student services, urged the crowd to 'thank a solder' after the ceremony.
