ASHLAND, Wis. (WSAU) – Investigators looking into the disappearance of an Ashland County man have found human skeletal remains.
Eighteen-year-old John Heggie has been missing since last August 1st.
The remains have not been identified at last word. They were found yesterday in an area north of Highway Two between Ashland and Odanah.
Heggie was missing from his home nearby – and the F-B-I is among those investigating the case, along with the state Justice Department and the Ashland County sheriff’s department.
Bad River Tribal Police asked sheriff’s deputies in January to get involved in the case. Since then, investigators said they’ve interviewed several persons-of-interest numerous times. And they’ve examined computers and cell phones to try-and-get clues on where Heggie might have gone.
On May 4th, deputies asked for the public’s help in finding him. Seventy officers from a dozen law enforcement agencies took part in yesterday’s search. They included a K-9 unit from Duluth.
