WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – Prosecutors charged a Wausau man Tuesday with his sixth drunken driving offense after he crashed into the back deck of a home in Rib Mountain on Sunday.

A judge ordered 58-year-old Dennis Campbell jailed on a $5,000 cash bond. He was also cited for open intoxicants in his vehicle after police found a full bottle of vodka, an empty bottle of vodka and a half-empty bottle of mouthwash.

A preliminary hearing is set for April 27th.

An eyewitness saw Campbell driving erratically and watched him urinate in the middle of the road, according to court documents. The man called 9-1-1, followed Campbell’s truck and saw him crash into a house on the 3100 block of Martin Avenue.

A state trooper found Campbell slumped over in the seat of his truck which was still in gear. Police put the truck in park and got Campbell out. He mumbled that he was OK but failed field sobriety tests. Campbell blew a 0.36 on a preliminary breath test – a reading more than four times the legal limit.

Campbell has five prior OWI convictions in Price County – the most recent of which came in September 2006.
