TOWN OF EMMET, Wis (WSAU) Two men were each cited for drunk driving inside the same pick-up truck on Sunday in the Town of Emmit. Police say there was a fight inside the cab of the truck while it was moving. Sheriffs deputies say it may have been a dispute over whether the driver was safe to be behind the wheel.
One passenger, a 22-year-old man from Madison, jumped out of the pick-up as it slowed down on Highway 153. He was injured. When the truck stopped and the driver got out to help, another person inside tired to drive a short distance to hide the vehicle in a nearby driveway. Both were cited for O-W-I when deputies arrived.
The man who jumped was taken to Wausau Aspirus Hospital with head injuries. A fourth person, a 19-year-old passenger, was citied for underage drinking.
The initial driver has a second O-W-I case pending in Wood County. No names have been released.
