UNDATED (WSAU) – Drivers across central Wisconsin can expect fresh construction zones today as work crews get back from their vacation as well.

New construction starts today in Merrill, Mosinee and Portage County.

In Merrill, work crews will be starting work on WIS 64 from Mill Street to Center Avenue. This work will completely repave the road and upgrade all sewer, utility and sidewalk access. Local access to adjacent businesses and residences will be maintained via side road access. Construction is expected to last through November, and traffic will be detoured along County Highways K and Z.

Mosinee drivers can expect less hassle as crews repave and refinish Highway 153 under the Interchange with I-39. 153 will remain open to traffic throughout the construction, with crews working on alternating sides of the road for concrete resurfacing. Work is expected to last through October.

Drivers in Portage County will be seeing roadwork on Highway 10. Work will now start on US 10 between I-39/US 51 and Portage County J on the east side of Stevens Point. Crews will be repairing and refinishing concrete starting today and running through the end of the week.

In all the projects, motorists should also be alert for slow moving vehicles, construction equipment and turning trucks within the work zones. To avoid any potential delays you may want to use alternate routes.
