WESTON, Wis. (WSAU) – Weston’s water utility made more money last year because of higher rates but residents did not use less water than the village had predicted.
The village imposed a higher rate for customers who use more than 30,000 gallons. But the village pumped 8 million more gallons for irrigation in 2009 than it did in 2008.
According to a utility report quoted in today’s Wausau Daily Herald, more customers exceeded the 30,000-gallon mark in 2009 than the year before despite the higher rates.
The village’s public works director says the utility may consider changes to help improve water efficiency.
