RACINE, Wis. (WSAU) - Racine police arrest a woman for allegedly putting her newborn infant in a trash container.
They say she will be charged with suspicion of first-degree reckless homicide and concealing the death of her child. Investigators think the 23 year old from Franklin gave birth at a Perkins restaurant where she worked, then put the infant in a bag and left it in the trash bin.
When the woman went to a hospital for medical help, police were contacted and the dead child's body was found. An autopsy reportedly showed the infant was still alive when it was put in the trash container behind the Old Country Buffet restaurant in the same strip mall.
Official charges are expected to be filed later this week by the Racine County District Attorney's office.
