WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - The attorney representing Representative Jeff Wood has taken herself off the case, and Wood has been charged with a new count of OWI.

Tracy Wood was released from the case by Judge Jill Falstad in a hearing this afternoon. Jeff Wood had claimed that he should not be billed to pay Tracy Wood's full retainer fee because she resigned from the case. He had already paid $17,000 in fees for other trials so far. Tracy Wood said in her defense that was only half of the retainer fees that Wood had been charged. She also said in an earlier brief that she 'fundamentally did not agree' with the way Wood wanted to argue the case.

Judge Jill Falstad said it was clear that additional time to discuss the matter would not resolve the case, and that there had been little action in resolving the issue over Wood's retainer fee.

Wood was also charged today with a 4th pending OWI offense, this time in Columbia County in May of 2010.

Jeff Wood will now need to get a new attorney, and he'll be back in court to report on that within a month.
