UNDATED (WSAU) A new report shows Wisconsin is getting by when it comes to education reform. The state was given a "C in the American Legislative Exchange Council's "Report Card on American Education."
The grade was based on reform policies surrounding academic standards, school choice programs, charter schools, online learning and the state's ability to get rid of bad teachers and hire good educators. Florida grabbed the top spot with a "B-plus."
Meanwhile, the state's students placed Wisconsin 21st in the country for improving performance on the National Assessment of Educational Progress test, which measures fourth and eighth grade reading and mathematics. Students in Vermont earned the state the top spot in the report.
