UNDATED (WSAU) The relatively short winter and the mild weather means maple sugar season is early this year. Sap is already flowing in parts of Wisconsin.
Some maple sugar farms began tapping their trees two weeks ago. Usually the season doesn't begin until mid- or late-March.
The typical maple tree produces about half a gallon of sap each year.
