RACINE, Wis (WSAU) A fisherman from Franklinville caught a state-record-setting brown trout this week. And his catch is being researched for a possible world record.
While fishing in Lake Michigan off Racine 39-year-old Roger Hellen landed a 41-and-a-half pound brown trout. The D-N-R says that breaks the Wisconsin record by more than five pounds. Hellen is now asking the International Game Fish Association to confirm if it as a world-record. Their web site says it is... since the current record-holder in 41-pounds 7-ounces.
Hellen said he was more exhilarated than exhausted when he reeled his fish it. It took him an hour-and-a-half.
