WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – Wausau's convention and visitor's bureau is getting up and running this week ahead of a grand opening in August.

The group recently made a switch from their location near Cedar Creek Mall to the Palladian in Wausau. Director Darren Schaeffer says the move means staff at the CVB will have more space to work and handle things like conferences and planning sessions. “Our old location was just too small, and all of our plans to remodel or reorganize went nowhere.”

The new location on 3rd and Jefferson also means that the office will cater to a different set of people. Schaeffer says a lot of their traffic at Cedar Creek was people looking for directions other than Wausau.”Now we have people who are already downtown, looking for things to do.” He says it also helps them better connect with the various groups like River District, the parks department and Wausau Area Events.

The CVB will be holding an official open house Tuesday August 10th at 11:30 am. All are invited.
