MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) – A former Marshfield Clinic doctor accused of fondling his patients as they woke up from sedation has given up his medical license.
Dr. Kevin Lang surrendered the license to the state Medical Examining Board. In return, the board agreed to drop any disciplinary action against him.
The state will report Lang's decision to a national database as a negative action, meaning other state licensing agencies can see the action if he applies to practice somewhere else.
The board found that Lang had inappropriate sexual contact with a female patient on March 13, 2009. Lang surrendered his hospital privileges when confronted by the clinc. He's admitted inappropriate conduct with 11 patients between 2003 and 2007.
Lang is charged in Wood County with five counts of second degree sexual assault of an intoxicated victim. He's free on a $25,000 cash bond pending an initial appearance September 7th.
According to court documents, Lang put his penis in the hands of patients as they were under anesthesia. He also forced one woman to touch herself inappropriately.
Marshfield Clinic changed its procedures following the accusations against Lang. It now requires three people to be in the room with a patient as they come out of sedation.
