ROTHSCHILD, Wis. (WSAU) – Rothschild has made an initial approval for a series of Industrial Improvement Bonds for Schuette Metals.

The $3.5 million dollar bonds would be used to expand the facilities to help them fulfill contracts with Oshkosh Truck ahead of a planned construction of a number of projects for the Defense Department. Village president Neil Torney says the village will have nothing to do with the bonds, other than acting as a mediator between the government and Schuette. It won't reflect on the villages finances if Schuette doesn't pay them back.

Schuette says the project could create an additional 15 jobs in the area, as well as retain twelve on an existing line. Torney says these jobs are good paying jobs with benefits, and qualify for a series of requirements under stimulus funding.

This is a preliminary motion, and a public comment session could be held at a later date on the issue.
