MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - Two Republicans are trying to replace state Senate Majority Leader Russ Decker this fall.

Rusk County businessman Jimmy Boy Edming and Wausau surgeon Pam Galloway will square off in a primary 2 weeks from Tuesday, and the winner will take on Decker in November.

On a Wisconsin Public Radio program, both GOP hopefuls agreed on virtually all policy issues. And they hope an anti-incumbency mood will give them an edge over Decker, who’s been in the Senate for 20 years.

Edming and Galloway both said government and the deficit are too big, and they’d cut corporate taxes to keep companies like Harley-Davidson in Wisconsin. Both oppose the high-speed rail line that’s planned between Milwaukee and Madison – and both say they’re against embryonic stem cell research and abortion without exceptions.
